ice cream sunday.
It's almost summer, which means it's totally acceptable to eat ice cream for dinner as the sun sets over Northport Harbor! Hooray!

pumpkin picking (in a heatwave).
Yesterday was a first! We went pumpkin picking, and when we arrived at the patch, the smell of sunscreen made it smell more like a summer day at the beach than a fall day surrounded by pumpkin, cider, and bails of hay! Nonetheless, we picked our pumpkins -- all five of them -- and we think we got some good ones. All 38.2 lbs of them!

mama went to market.
We moseyed on down to the huntington farmer's market this morning, and the bounty was plentiful, if not a little random. We picked up some pickled tomatoes;
a bread made from white, wheat and rye flour with a chardonnay starter (see above); and a beautiful bunch of lavender that I plan to hang in my closets.
We're planning on putting our creativity to use this evening by working as many of our fresh veggies into our dinner as possible. . . right now we're leaning toward tapas. We'll see where we end up tonight!
