Andy's teacher sent home some "optional" homework for him to try out. When I saw it, I thought it looked pretty tough and I wasn't sure how he'd do. Here's how it went.

day 3.

Here's the kindergartener on his way to a very-hot third-day of school. He has music class for the first time today, so he has on his music shirt. You can't tell, but the white wire running through the bones are a set of earbuds. I thought it was appropriate for someone who sits on a stool staring at the computer screen watching every song on the billboard top 100 list on Spotify. (If you're thinking, what's there to look at? I thought Spotify was just music? Then you're right. He watches the time counter count down the seconds on every song, and knows which version of each song is which, based on how many minutes it is).  He is unique, that son of ours.

So far he seems to really like school. I'm just hoping the enthusiasm continues. One thing he is adamant about -- he does not like gym class. And he is glad it is Wednesday, because gym is still two days away. He's had gym twice this week, and both days, he refused to participate. The gym teacher (who he's already announced that he does. not. like.) has made it clear that on Friday he at least needs to try. And he started griping and groaning at the bus stop about it this morning. So, let's hope the gym stuff does not color his opinion of school overall, and he can start to make some friends in his class that will help get him involved. . .

day 2.

Here we go! Day 2! He's away until 3 pm! I don't know if I can handle it! Yesterday was not without it's major glitches, but Andy had a blast despite that fact! I'm hoping he enjoys himself just as much, if not more, today with the enrichment class tacked on to his kindergarten day. Fingers crossed!

We miss him alot, especially Rowan. I have a feeling it's going to feel like a long day today. . . good luck, Andy!

the first day of kindergarten.

Today, Anderson climbed with his tiny, five-year-old legs and his too-full backpack up the giant steps of the school bus and rode off to his first day of kindergarten. He was excited and nervous. And super-adorable. I tried not to cry. But I failed.

Today Andy used his hard-earned (cough) allowance money to buy his first toy with his own money ever. He was super-excited to put those bills and coins up on the counter at the store.

It's almost the first day of school, and andy already had his first homework assignment. Ever. It was a classic from the instant it was finished. He had to tell his teacher a little bit about himself before his first day:
