Five!

On Sunday, our first little baby officially became a boy. Gone are the days of toddler-hood and "preschooler" and having age as an excuse for bad behavior (oh, he's little). He's officially a five-year-old. A school boy. And one who had a very strong opinion on how he'd like to celebrate his arrival at this new milestone: with a surprise party.  How exactly does that work? A surprise party by request. Well, I'll tell you how.
We lied.

All week long, Andy kept asking us who was coming to his birthday party, and we would respond, "what party?! you celebrated with your friends at the end of school, and you celebrated at camp with cupcakes".
See said cupcakes here.
Then, on the day of his birthday, we told him that his best friend, Annemarie, and Mum-Mum and Papa were coming over at 3pm to have cake with us. But first, we were going to get pizza at the pizza place as a family.

And that's where:
SURPRISE!
Gotcha, baby! He was so surprised and so happy! It was the cutest thing ever.

With Annemarie.
Looking way too old for me to handle.
Our accomplices.
Reunited!
Make a wish!
Yes, he requested Doc McStuffins. . .
Tasting his cake (after crying because the waiter served Rowan first and he was supposed to get the first piece)

Happy Birthday, Anderson! May this year be your best one yet!
We LOVE you!!
